Plot: As the title
suggests, Models of women, these seven stories are all carried out by women
who, in different ages and circumstances, all face, at some point,
extraordinary events. All, except the one that gives title to the book, are in
one way or another linked to childhood, to the capacity to desire as an engine
of the will, of the acts of will that the protagonists must assume to prevent
life from overwhelming them. In the first three stories-Broken eyes, Malena, a
boiled life and Barbara against death-the female characters overcome, each in
their own way, death: the little Miguela, the Mongolian woman who falls in love
with a ghost ; Malena, who spends her life doing regimen for love; and Barbara,
who accompanies her grandfather to fish. In the last four -The vocabulary of
the balconies, Mother's love, Models of women and The good daughter-, the
protagonists twist fate in their favor by resorting to the power of seduction
and others to the force of reason, and all with the will that gives them the
firm desire not to tolerate that life gets out of hand.

Summary : Lucía's heart misses a beat when she sees
a man of her age, Juan in a department store. Without hesitating, she decides
to follow him to his house, the same house where, twenty-five years before,
while the Franco regime was on its last leg, Juan first met Lucía and fell in
love with her... They were seventeen then, and invented a language of their own
from across the balconies. But Juan was a boy from a humble family from the
outskirts of the city, and Lucía's parents had big plans for her. Lucía chose
the security offered by her wealthy boyfriend, the first of her suitable
relationships; and it's only after meeting Juan, much later, that she realizes
how much she had given up to achieve the status that her parents had dreamed
of. Lucía decides to move across the street from Juan to get close to him and
rekindle their dialogues across balconies from the past. However, Juan's life
has changed, does he want to open up the wounds Lucia left in his heart when
